Gritty prison thriller SCREWED turns the genre on its head by showing life behind bars through the eyes of the guards.
James D’Arcy (Master & Commander, Exorcist: The Beginning, Secret Diary of a Call Girl) stars as Sam, an English everyman forced to take a job as a prison officer on his return from a traumatic tour of duty in Iraq. He quickly bonds with his hardened fellow screws but the violence and desperation he witnesses on the job and his haunting memories of bloodshed overseas draw him down into a world of drink and drugs — a world in which he is increasingly alienated from his family.
When a confrontation with the prison authorities on the inside and the fatal shooting of a fellow officer on the outside lead Sam to the realisation that the watchmen may be as corrupt as the prisoners they’re paid to watch, he becomes embroiled in a potentially deadly game of cat-and-mouse against the background of a full-scale cellblock riot.
Screwed is produced and written by the man who lived it, Ronnie Thompson, and directed by Reg Traviss (Joy Division, Psychosis).
It goes on general release on 3rd June, 2011.

Synopsis:
Ayo & Sparky are 2 young video guys who receive a phone call to do a music video
for the local gangster/emcee/menace. What starts off as a great opportunity soon turns into a
living nightmare. Through a series of unfortunate events they manage to lose the budget and
are faced with the impossible task of putting together the whole shoot in less than 24
Hours…………Can They Do It???

Trailer for a new independant movie about low budget music videos. I’d be really interested to know if this was shot before or after the BBC3 Music, Money and Hip Hop Honeys documentary that caused so much controversy. That documentary was like a prelude to this film (not sure if it’s a short or feature length) and the fact that Digital Dan is in this makes it funny. Hopefully Digital Dan has turned to acting now as rumour is he can’t get any girls to do his videos. The creators may be calling this a ‘Mockumentary’ but it looks pretty close to what really goes down, actually looking forward to see the finished piece. Good work Director @MrMoeMusa

Adam Deacon leads an all-star ‘urban’ cast in a role that was made for him… because he wrote it. Anuvahood is spawned from the Kidulthood/Adulthood movies with a ‘Friday’ skew. This looks like the perfect role for Mr Deacon and is sure to become a UK cult movie. Love how it’s shot with camera’s looking down on the characters, can’t wait to see it.

Am sure there are more but I spotted Femi, Michael Vu (Co-writer), Eddie Kadi, Richard Blackwood, Mz Bratt and Portia Freno.

This put tingles down my spine.. Not sure if this is a teaser to a full length documentary but it left me wanting more. Def worth a watch!

My Life, My Choice is a new UK movie starring upcoming Birmingham music artist and actor ‘Romo’.

The movie Exit Through The Gift Shop was an absolute box office smash in the States but for some bizarre reason, it didn’t create a ripple in the UK. The Banksy flick is an incredible docu-movie and it looks like the DVD comes with tons of extras so definitely worth the purchase.
