Currently working on her follow up to debut album The Bridge, Melanie Fiona was in London town last week and in her bid to find out more about our growing Hip Hop scene, she asked chart-topping UK rapper Tinchy Stryder for a guide to his Top 5 UK emcees. In no particular order, he names Dizzee Rascal, Wiley, himself, Giggs [who also collaborated with Melanie] and Kano. From there, the conversation floats over to America…

As you are all aware, it has been ‘interview season’  on SB.TV of late, and it wouldn’t be ‘interview season’ if they didn’t bring you a chat with one of the pioneers of the Grime scene. Hailing from Plaistow, Crazy Titch, is currently serving a life sentence behind bars, but SB.TV managed to speak exclusively to him in what is his first in depth interview since going inside. Grime’s first ‘angry MC’ rang Liam Tootill recently and chatted about a whole range of different subjects from his forthcoming mixtape Crazy Times 2, his views on Chipmunk and Dizzee, his Muslim faith, the scene’s progression and a whole lot more.

So someone has hit the streets of New York to score how many people have heard of Chipmunk vs Lowkey. The reactions are funny but it’s not really fair. Lowkey has done joints with NY rappers like Immortal Technique and when that guy in the white top started talking, it was obvious that this was a setup. Props to both though, you can’t front on Chippy’s mainstream fanbase. Do the same survey in Ibiza and it’ll be 13-0 to Munk. Both artists are hitting the fanbases they’re targeting.
